Patryk Sykut

Young attacking midfielder Patryk Sykut has put pen to paper on a long-term contract at the Football Club.

We are delighted to announce that Patryk Sykut has agreed a long-term professional contract, completing the formalities at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.

Sykut, who plays as an attacking midfielder within the number 10 position, has been in fine form this season and was on the score-sheet for the Under 18s in the weekend win over Fleetwood Town. He has also been a regular within the Under 21 group.

The 17-year-old was quick to thank his family and coaches for their help, guidance and support and is excited about the next chapter.

"First and foremost, I want to say a big thank you to my family and the coaches at the club who have helped me get to this point. It is a great feeling to be signing a professional contract with this club.

"It has been a real journey for me since I joined, but I feel that in the last 12 months or so, I have been able to kick on and in the position that I play, I know that I have to impact the game with assists and goals.

"Playing at Old Trafford in the Youth Cup was a brilliant experience for me and for all of the squad, it gives you a taste of what is required at the highest level. I am looking forward to the second half of the campaign, we are in a great position in the league within the Under 21 group."

Academy Director Dan Robinson said: "It is fantastic to see another one of our players coming through the schoolboy programme and then progressing into the youth team and doing so well.

"Patryk has been rewarded for his efforts and it is another great example of the pathway for our players here at Peterborough United."

Under 21s boss Sam Gaughran added: "Patryk's contact is fully deserved. In the last year, he has really kicked on, at the start when he first came into the full-time environment it took him a little while to find his feet, but he is someone who affects games every week, he can do stuff that other players can't and has a great attitude, so hopefully he has a bright future."
