It was the last full day for the Peterborough United squad at their pre-season training camp in Spain and it concluded with an excellent performance against one of the richest clubs in the world.
Day five began like all the other days in the week with breakfast followed by pre-hab before the players headed down to the pitch for their final training session of the week.
The session was relatively short given it was a matchday with manager Luke Williams and his coaching staff going through shape and tactics for the game with Neom SC later in the day.
A final climb back up the hill, which incidentally overlooks one of three superb golf courses at La Cala, followed with lunch the reward for the hard work.
La Cala actually boasts a golf course that is in the top 100 in the world and it is not hard to see why, it really is 18 stunning holes, but if you are planning a trip based on my enthusiasm, make sure you get a buggy, or it will feel like you are climbing a mountain.
A team meeting followed before the players boarded the bus for the 45 minute journey to the Banus Football Center, which was a wonderfully picturesque stadium - where else could you see two teams play football against a stunning mountainous backdrop.
A quick glance at the official team-sheet confirmed that Neom SC had plenty of talent with ex-Arsenal and France front man Alexandre Lacezette playing just ahead of Said Benrahma, who once moved to West Ham United for over £25m.
Posh were excellent in the game, utilising an aggressive high press in the first half with Chris Conn-Clarke pulling the strings just behind Harry Leonard. You could see the hard work on the training ground bearing fruit.
It was great to see so many Posh fans in attendance, some had been in the Marbella area for a few days, others flew in on the day of the game and were flying back following the final whistle.
Some had more alcohol than others, but everybody seemed to enjoy themselves, even the few that flew out to watch Posh play and spent the entire 90 minutes in the bar.
Following the journey back to the hotel, the players had a late dinner before retiring to their beds for the morning flight home.
Manager Luke Williams summed up the week. "It has been great to come away and spend time together, both on and off the pitch, it has been really beneficial and we had two good workouts against different opposition.
"We now head back to England and look ahead to a busy week with three fixtures to get more minutes into the players," Williams said.
