Peterborough United Women were crowned FA Women’s National League Midlands champions following an assured victory in the West Midlands.

Peterborough United Women made it 20 unbeaten in the National League after a dominant opening hour saw us on course for automatic promotion.

Jake Poole’s team delivered early control as two goals from Niamh Connor and a goal each from Niamh Reynolds and Keir Perkins did the damage in the opening 45 minutes.

Anna Pitt carried on our scoring form after the break, though we were limited to the sole goal as we looked to protect our lead.

It was Posh who made the early running in Droitwich as REYNOLDS tucked the ball into the bottom corner following good hold-up play from Rousseau.

As it was, the Harriers were perhaps lucky to only be a goal behind, but we continued to dig in and found the second on 18 minutes through CONNOR, who headed hard and low following a cross from the right.

And it was 3-0 less than six minutes later, as CONNOR again played her part and grabbed her second with a simple header in the West Midlands.

Chances kept coming, this time for Reynolds after Hayley James’ cross was on the dot for our number 12, who would have been disappointed with her end product from close range.

PERKINS got our fourth after the ball was knocked free to our captain after good work from Evie Driscoll-King in a wide area.

We continued our scoring form after the break when PITT drove one into the bottom corner from distance - an excellent strike from the centre back.

The Harriers’ keeper then needed to be alert to shut the door on Poppie Brown and Lauren Wilshaw, who both had efforts met minutes later.

Not much happened in the way of talking points in the remaining 30 minutes, though substitutes Rebecca Mears and Tara Kirk both had efforts matched by the Harriers’ keeper.

It proved a precursor for what was to come, as Driscoll-King and Brown both had efforts saved from a similar position.

It doesn’t matter though, as the result seals our promotion into the third tier and ensures that Neive Corry will pick up the Golden Glove come the summer.
