There has been a lot of discussion around the success of the Men's Academy at Peterborough United and there are plenty of success stories within the Women's Academy too.
Only last weekend, Ellie Curson made her first start in the senior side, following in the footsteps of fellow youngsters Ella-Mai Bale, Jess Abrantes, Rebecca Mears and Edyn Osker in becoming part of Jake Poole's squad.
While Abrantes and Bale have moved to the United States to continue their footballing education, Osker, Mears and Curson have become fixtures in Poole's Matchday squads both in pre-season and into the new FAWNL Division One Midlands campaign.
For Osker in particular, she has become one of the first names on the team-sheet. She caught the eye with her performances at the back last season and has continued that form into the new campaign, scoring twice during pre-season from long-range.
"I have really enjoyed the start to the season in the league, we know that we need to be consistent if we are going to have a successful campaign and we have made a positive start with three wins from three and 17 goals scored.
"In the cup, it has been a bit disappointing results wise, but we can learn a lot from those games, coming up against different opposition and it is also an opportunity for players to get minutes.
"There is a lot of competition for places in the squad this season, but that is a positive for me, everyone is fighting for a place in the team so you have to train and play well to keep the shirt.
"For me personally, I have played mainly on the left of the back three in the games we have played so far this season and I have enjoyed it there. I even managed to chip in with a few goals in pre-season. I didn't score any last season, so that was a positive!
"This league is about consistency. You can't treat any opposition lightly, your mentality has to be strong for every game that you play and we know that if we get the opportunity to score more goals we need to take it because it could come down to goal difference," Osker said.
Osker will be part of the Posh squad that face Sheffield at PIMS Park on Sunday afternoon (2pm). Over 400 were in attendance for the cup game with Cambridge United last weekend. Tickets are available on the day (card only).
