Posh Women welcome Doncaster Rovers Belles to the Abbey Lawn.

Peterborough United Women return to the Abbey Lawn stadium on Sunday afternoon as they face Doncaster Rovers Belles in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands, with all supporters allowed free entry to the game.

The club’s front-of-shirt sponsor, The Urban Penguin, has offered an exciting opportunity for both home and away supporters to attend this weekend’s game free of charge.

All you have to do is say “The Urban Penguin sent me” at the turnstile and you will be admitted FOR FREE to watch what should be an exciting game at the Abbey Lawn.

Dan Lawlor’s side were held to a goalless draw by Leafield Athletic last weekend, while Doncaster Rovers Belles were condemned to a 3-0 defeat by league leaders Stourbridge FC.

Team News

Posh remain without midfielders Beatriz Borque and Stacey McConville for this weekend’s fixture. Defender Kayleigh Aylmer is also unavailable for selection.

Emily Johnson made her first-team debut last weekend against Leafield Athletic and will be involved in this weekend’s game against Belles, while midfielder Eden Bailey is set to return.

Doncaster Rovers Belles lost a number of players over the summer, but have strengthened with new additions. Forward Nadia Khan netted 11 goals in 24 appearances last season and recently earned a call-up to Pakistan’s international team.

From The Gaffer

“It’ll be a really tough game, but one we’re really looking forward to and can hopefully get what we need to get from it. They’re a top side and they’ll be a threat, so we have to minimise that as much as we can and do what we need to do the other end of the pitch to try and win the game.

“The last time we played them at home, we drew 0-0. They were very sharp in the middle of the pitch. If we do the right things and concentrate on ourselves, I’m sure we’ll get through the game absolutely fine.

“It’ll be nice to have a few home games. We haven’t got the excuses that you can use when you’re travelling away all the time, so it’ll be interesting to see how we can do at home, and hopefully, the players can take it in their stride and help us in the next few weeks.”
