The 'Posh goalkeeper union' obtained a new member in the summer as Collin Andeng Ndi arrived after over 100 appearances between the sticks for Enterprise National League side Southend United.
Andeng Ndi will compete with last season's number one Alex Bass for the shirt with both players getting 45 minutes under their belt in the opening pre-season friendly against FC Magpies earlier this week.
Bass had an excellent personal season last term, with a string of impressive performances between the sticks. While personal praise is never shunned, Bass is determined to ensure the 2026/27 campaign is a far more positive one for the club.
"I don't like to talk about my own performances last season because of how the season went for us as a team, it wasn't a good season for the club. This season is about starting well, hitting the ground running, hopefully remaining injury-free unlike last year and see how we get on. The squad will come together and hopefully it will be a more positive campaign for everyone involved, that is certainly the aim.
"Collin has joined us in the summer, he has started really well, works really hard and looks a good goalkeeper, so it is going to be a good union. We will push each other as much as we can and hopefully we will learn from each other. When a new person comes in it is great to see what attributes they have, he is a different kind of goalkeeper to me so I am looking forward to learning different aspects of his game and hopefully he will feel the same about me.
"Pre-season and the trip away to Spain has been enjoyable so far, it is back to learning and the manager has been drumming into us a lot more details and instructions and driving a lot of standards from us to make sure last season doesn't happen again," Bass said.
For most of the squad, the summer break has included plenty of fitness work, primarily involving running, but for goalkeepers, a lot of what they do in training is hard to replicate.
"Goalkeeper fitness is very much different to an outfield player. I had a bit of a laugh and a joke with the Richard (Taylor, Goalkeeping Coach), the other day, it doesn't matter what you do in the off season, when you start diving around and getting up constantly, you can't replicate that.
"It is a lot of short, sharp stuff and a lot of bike work, you don't do the running that the rest of the lads do. I actually like to have a few sessions with other professional goalkeepers during the summer, that keeps you sharp, as a goalkeeper you need to stay switched on with your hands. The work we have done since we have been back has been really good and enjoyable," Bass added.
