Paul Taylor puts pen to paper on deal at the ABAX Stadium.

Peterborough United are pleased to confirm the signing of Paul Taylor on a one-year contract with the former Ipswich Town front man completing the paperwork after passing a medical at the Mick George Training Academy.

Taylor, who featured in the pre-season victory over Boreham Wood, has been training with the club and will undergo extra sessions to improve his fitness under the guidance of Head of Sports Science Ben Mackenzie.

Manager Grant McCann said: "It is a great signing for us. A fit Paul Taylor is one of the best players in this league, if not beyond, so we are hopefully going to get him fit. He is going to do some extra sessions with Ben.

"He has looked sharp but we obviously need to step it up fitness wise. Paul is looking forward to it and everyone is looking forward to having him at the club.

"He is direct, he will get at teams, he works hard and since he left the club we can see that he has been coached well and that is not surprising because he has been at some big clubs like Nottingham Forest, Ipswich Town, Rotherham and Blackburn Rovers. He has had some good coaching and hopefully we can add to that," McCann said.

Taylor scored 12 goals in his first spell with the football club at Championship level before a move to Portman Road.

Taylor will be involved on Saturday when Posh entertain Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City at the ABAX Stadium (3pm).

Tickets are available at www.theposhtickets.com, via the Ticketmaster hotline 0844 847 1934* and in person at the ABAX Stadium Box Office.
