Posh travel to Roots Hall to face Southend United in Sky Bet League One action.

Peterborough United make the trip to Roots Hall to face Southend United in Sky Bet League One action at lunchtime on Saturday (12.05pm) with the game televised live on Sky Sports.

Dave Robertson's side will be looking to bounce back after the last gasp defeat to Millwall in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy on Tuesday evening.

The Shrimpers claimed a 2-2 draw with Coventry City earlier in the week with David Mooney among the scorers. Mooney was a close season signing from Leyton Orient and is likely to partner former Reading front man Noel Hunt in attack.

The Posh boss said: 'We watched Southend against Doncaster a few weeks back when we had a rare evening where we did not have a fixture and we have watched their last game against Coventry back too. They play with two strikers with one off the other, one is better in the air and one is better on the floor but we have done all our preparation for the game.

'We have worked hard this week on the things that I was not happy about at Millwall and I have spoken to all of the players so they are fully aware of their responsibilities in and out of possession. They know what is expected of them,' Robertson said.

In terms of team news, Posh are without the services of midfielder Jermaine Anderson who is away with the England under 20 squad while defender Gabi Zakuani is on international duty with DR Congo.

Michael Smith and Kgosi Ntlhe should be fit while Jack Baldwin is nearing full fitness after a year-long layoff with a knee injury.  Jack Collison returns to the squad after sitting out the Johnstone's Paint Trophy tie at Millwall.

Defender Luke O'Neill joined Southend on a two-year deal after Burnley cancelled his contract by mutual consent in a bit of business conducted by boss Phil Brown on transfer deadline day. O'Neill, 24, joined Southend initially on-loan, but is yet to feature for the League One club.

Posh have the edge over the Shrimpers in the Head to Head record with 22 wins to 20 and Posh won the last meeting between the two sides, a 4-0 victory at the ABAX Stadium in August 2012.

Posh had sold just under 300 tickets in advance for the fixture. Tickets in advance are priced at £22 for adults, £15 for seniors over 60, £14 for students with valid ID, young persons aged between 17-20 and disabled supporters (with free carer), £10 for juniors under 16 and £4 for under 8s. They are on sale until 3pm on Friday.

On the day, the price rises to £24 for adults, £17 for seniors over 60, £16 for students with valid ID, young persons aged between 17-20 and disabled supporters (with free carer), £11 for juniors under 16 and £5 for under 8s.
