Posh head to Vale Park in Sky Bet League One action on Saturday (3pm).

Peterborough United make the trip to Port Vale on Saturday and Darren Ferguson's men will be looking for maximum points to get their form back on track.

A 2-0 defeat against Colchester United at the ABAX Stadium last Saturday left Posh in 11th place in the table, but the club are still within touching distance of the play-off positions.

'I think we are fortunate that we are still in touch with the play-off positions, but we need to ensure that we go on a run of form now. We have done a lot of talking, but ultimately it is what is done on the pitch and we know that we need to improve.

'We make the trip to Port Vale this weekend and that is a tough place to go. Their fans can be very vocal in their support of their team, but we also know that if things are not going well, they can turn the other way.

'Port Vale have the biggest pitch in the Football League, it is extremely wide and it is important that we keep the ball and use it well and get our creative players in possession,' Ferguson said.

The Posh boss lost the services of goalkeeper Ben Alnwick to a thigh injury this week, but moved quickly to secure a replacement with Scott Loach arriving from Rotherham United on an initial one-month loan.

Jon Taylor and Jack Baldwin remain injured, while Gabriel Zakuani is away at the African Cup of Nations with DR Congo.

Port Vale midfielder Michael O'Connor is fit for the visit of Posh. O'Connor suffered a knee injury in last Saturday's 3-0 loss at Chesterfield, following which manager Rob Page may make changes to his starting line-up.

Posh have sold 133 tickets in advance of the fixture, but fans can pay on the turnstiles at Vale Park.
