Posh head to Spotland on the opening day of the Sky Bet League One campaign (3pm)
Peterborough United begin their Sky Bet League One campaign against Rochdale at Spotland on Saturday (3pm) and manager Darren Ferguson has one or two selection dilemma's to resolve ahead of the big kick-off.
Following the departure of Britt Assombalonga to Nottingham Forest on Wednesday, Ferguson has a decision to make in attack with Kyle Vassell and Tyrone Barnett the front runners to partner Conor Washington.
Jon Taylor is rated as doubtful after failing to recover sufficiently from a knock, but there is better news on Michael Smith who trained during the latter part of the week after missing the win over St. Neots.
Joe Newell (broken toe) definitely misses out and faces around two more weeks on the sidelines.
Ferguson is looking forward to the new campaign and wants his team to enjoy the experience: 'We want to try and enjoy this season. We want to play with a smile on our faces and see where it takes us. I think everyone gets a few butterflies ahead of a new season and I am no different.
'I don't think this year there will be a team that runs away with it like Wolverhampton Wanderers did, a lot of teams will fancy their chances and it will be a competitive division. We start at Rochdale and that is a tough place to start.
'Rochdale play good football and they will be trying to use the momentum of last season like so many teams have done. Keith Hill is a good manager and I am sure it will be an entertaining fixture,' Ferguson said.
Posh fans are advised that it is pay on the turnstiles at Spotland. No tickets have been able to purchase in advance.
