Posh Under 18s v Lincoln City Under 18s: Match Preview

Weston Homes Stadium

Posh Under 18s host Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium on Sunday evening in the first round of the FA Youth Cup (7pm).

The Peterborough United Under 18s host Lincoln City Under 18s in the first round of the FA Youth Cup at the Weston Homes Stadium on Sunday evening (26th October) with the action getting underway at 7pm.

Posh sit eighth in the Professional Development League table following defeat at Huddersfield Town on Saturday morning, but will welcome a number of key players back into the group for the clash with the Imps.

TEAM NEWS

Bolu Shofowoke, who has netted 13 goals so far this season across the Under 18s and Under 21s, is expected to lead the line while Lucca Mendonca is also eligible to play. In the FA Youth Cup, Posh can name seven substitutes, so Lead Under 18s Coach Jimmy Unwin has some tough decisions to make.

FROM THE MANAGER

"The FA Youth Cup is a special competition and we are all looking forward to the game. It will be a tough test because although Lincoln City are a 'Category Three' side they have produced a lot of good players in recent years. Hopefully we can put on a strong performance and get through to the next round. It will be a good chance for the players to play in a stadium environment, some will be doing that for the first time and those more experienced players can help the others through those challenges. It will be good to play under the lights and hopefully a good crowd and we can put in a performance that makes everyone Proud to be Posh," Lead Under 18s Coach Jimmy Unwin said.

Shofowoke At The Double As Posh Under 18s Progress In FA Youth Cup

Posh Under 18s

Bolu Shofowoke scored twice as the Posh Under 18s progressed into the second round of the FA Youth Cup at the expense of Lincoln City.

Peterborough United Under 18s moved into the second round of the FA Youth Cup after a convincing 5-0 victory over Lincoln City at the Weston Homes Stadium with Bolu Shofowoke (2), Lucca Mendonca, Maxim Mlityalwa and Eddie Fox on target.

Posh never looked in any danger against the Imps with only a late effort forcing goalkeeper Ben Westcott into serious action as a defence, marshalled by Mendonca, kept the visitors at arms length.

Posh had already created one or two half chances before SHOFOWOKE opened the scoring, racing onto a clever pass, rounding the goalkeeper and slotting into the empty net.

Skipper MENDONCA made it 2-0, in the right place at the right time to fire home from close-range following some pinball in the Lincoln penalty area.

Shofowoke should have made it 3-0 but was kept out by a smart stop while Benji McWilliams-Marcano also went close before the interval.

Less than two minutes into the second half, Eddie FOX made it 3-0, lashing into the back of the net from the edge of the box and substitute MLITYALWA made it four as Posh dominated.

SHOFOWOKE made it 5-0 on 57 minutes racing clear, beating the goalkeeper to the ball before finding the back of the net from close-range despite the attentions of the defender.

Patryk Sykut was denied by the keeper after a well-worked set-piece on the hour mark before Mendonca headed over from a corner kick.
