Bespoke Builds Training Ground

A look ahead to the Under 18s clash with Swansea City at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground on Saturday morning (11am).

The Peterborough United Under 18s are back in action on Saturday morning as they welcome Swansea City to the Bespoke Builds Training Ground in Professional Development League action (11am).

Lead Under 18s Coach Jimmy Unwin will be looking for an improved defensive performance as they welcome the Swans to the city.

Posh were beaten 4-2 by Colchester United last time out with Benji McWilliams-Marcano and Bolu Shofowoke on target.

TEAM NEWS

A number of players will have late fitness tests ahead of the clash with the Swans, but it is likely that Unwin will have a similar squad that was on duty against Colchester.

MANAGER QUOTES

"In our last game at Colchester, we were a threat going forward, but defensively we struggled a little bit and that is an area we have been working hard on this week. We know that if we give ourselves a platform in any game, we can cause problems at the top end of the pitch," Unwin said.

Updates of the game will be on the club's Academy page on X, which can be found here

Bolu Shofowoke

The Under 18s fought back from 3-1 down to level against Swansea City, but the Welsh side scored in stoppage time to secure the three points.

The Peterborough United Under 18s produced a fine comeback to get back level against Swansea City at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground on Saturday, but were ultimately undone by a stoppage time winner as the Swans returned to Wales with all three points.

Swansea dominated the first half and created some notable opportunities, but Posh were a threat in transition with Shofowoke squandering a few opportunities in front of goal.

The visitors opened the scoring on 34 minutes, but Posh drew themselves level through a looping overhead kick from Kurtis SIMMONS. Shofowoke should have been awarded a spot-kick just before the break before the visitors nudged in front ahead of the interval.

Swansea made it 3-1 on 52 minutes through Harvey Gray but Posh heads didn't drop and SHOFOWOKE scored a superb goal to halve the deficit. A quick throw from Marcano-McWilliams put Shofowoke in behind and he was brought down, providing Posh with the chance to level from the spot.

SHOFOWOKE coolly slotted home the spot-kick for his sixth goal in five games and first from the spot. Posh won another penalty for Posh on 85 minutes, but Shofowoke, going for his hat-trick, saw his penalty kick saved.

However, as the game moved into stoppage time, the visitors found a winner as they took advantage of a defensive error.

Under 18s Lead Coach Jimmy Unwin said: "There were plenty of positives, we had 18 shots on goal and we ended the game with two Under 15s on the pitch again. It was disappointing to concede four goals at home and some of the goals were poor, but we will continue to work on that aspect of the game."

Posh: Westcott, Sudakaran, Fitzpatrick, Christoudias, Aikins, Arber, McWilliams-Marcano, Mlitvalwa, Shofowoke, Crozier, Simmons. Subs: Joseph, Al Sammour, Norville, Fraser, Mfuri.
