Posh players celebrate during the 5-1 win over Northampton Town

Cambridge United and Northampton Town have something in common. They both concede five at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Peterborough United romped to an emphatic 5-1 victory over local rivals Northampton Town at the Weston Homes Stadium to make it four wins from four in all competitions and takes the total of goals against local rivals in PE2 to 10 in two games.

The visitors actually took the lead with GUTHRIE heading home at the back post following a cross into the box on eight minutes, but from then on, it was a one-sided affair.

Ephron Mason-Clark and Josh Knight had both seen efforts blocked before Posh levelled the scores on 24 minutes as MASON-CLARK tapped home from close-range after excellent work from Jadel Katongo down the right.

Three minutes later, Posh were ahead and it was arguably the goal of the game as Kwame POKU cut inside onto his left-foot and curled a superb effort into the bottom corner.

A minute before the break, Posh made it 3-1 as Joel RANDALL fired home from close-range after poor defending from the visitors.

On 58 minutes, Posh made it 4-1 as a shot from Randall deflected in the air and Hector KYPRIANOU was there to head home from close-range.

Five minutes later, Posh made it 5-1 as Josh KNIGHT found the back of the net from inside the box, finishing like a striker in the process.

Archie Collins fired over from 30-yards before Posh made a host of changes to freshen their XI up with no further opportunities, other than a blocked effort from David Ajiboye.
