Embankment Stadium
In February 2020 Embankment Properties and Peterborough City Council (PCC) signed a key Memorandum of Understanding outlining a collaborative agreement and shared vision for a major, landmark development for Peterborough United and the people of Peterborough and surrounding communities.
Since that time, PCC released a master plan for the Embankment area along the River Nene, which includes the new Anglia Ruskin University, a research super hub (funding for which was announced in early August 2020), and space for developing a new ground and associated facilities for Peterborough United Football Club (The Posh).
Our new football ground and complex will help anchor this broader development as it will include entrepreneurial incubation space, amenities for hosting major events and conferences, a fan zone, and a variety of dining venues and pubs.

What is the concept?
The City of Peterborough has released a Master Plan for the Embankment area along the River Nene, which includes the new Anglia Ruskin University, a research super hub (funding for which was announced in early August 2020), and space for developing a new ground and associated facilities for Peterborough United Football Club (Posh).
Embankment properties is interested in creating something bigger than just a football ground for Posh. Yes, we need a state-of-the-art stadium but that is only the jumping off point. Our concept envisions a much broader community gathering place including a fan zone, several dining venues and pubs, a hotel and conference centre, a technology centre and tech incubator, and fitness and activities facilities.
We are proud to continue to work collaboratively with Peterborough Council on this shared vision for the people of Peterborough and the surrounding area.
The stadium itself will be designed around the aspirations of the club, chief among them to bring sustainable, successful Championship-level football back to Peterborough. A key part of achieving that objective is to enhance the club’s ability to grow ancillary income. The new ground will be built with much more than football in mind. We see hosting A-list entertainment spectacles like concerts, and boxing, and UFC events, as well as major football competitions like U-21 internationals.
Where will the new ground be?
Embankment Properties and the City of Peterborough continue to work cooperatively on a Master Plan for the Embankment along the River Nene. The City has released a conceptual plan for how the new ground and the new Peterborough University will be situated on the Embankment.
How big will it be?
Our vision is a 15,000-22,500 all-seater stadium. An investment of this scope is required to bring in major events.
Where will the club play in the meantime?
We will continue to play at our current home, the Weston Homes London Road ground until the new stadium is ready.
Is the new ground dependent on developing the London Road land?
Financing for the new ground is not dependant on development at London Road. In fact, what ultimately becomes of the lands where the London Road ground currently sits will be the final part of the project.
Why is the new ground being held separately from the club?
Establishing a separate corporate entity for a stadium is a common approach and does two things:
1) it gives the owners access to a full range of financing options
2) it protects the club from the risks associated with a major real estate project.
