At the Peterborough United Foundation’s Youth Employment Hub, you can access all of the tools you need to take your next steps in life, all under one roof.
The purpose of the Hub is not only to give young people the support they need to find work, training and education, but also offer advice on housing, finances, mental health support and much more, as the young people of today take the next steps in their lives after secondary school.
Peterborough United Foundation’s Youth Employment Hub Manager, Dean Watson, said: “The Youth Hub is a great place for young people aged 16-24 to come and get support in a relaxed environment. There are different opportunities available, but all services are available one-to-one through myself or Alicia here, and then through many of our partners. Young people can come in and get employment support, they can get mental health support, training and apprenticeships, funding management, pretty anything they would need to help them on their journey.”
“The Youth Hub has been running for a few months, but we’re still getting established in what we’re doing. The great thing is that we have a lot of partners coming in, so those from Mind, Steadfast Training, PSA, Kooth in regard to online housing support, Crosskeys Homes, with financial advice and tenancy readiness courses. But what I like to see going forward is, obviously, more young people coming through the door, but at the same time, employer engagement. I’d like to see how we can get employers to come in and help the young people with their aspirations, maybe some mentoring, a bit of guidance, to give a bit of information about what real life is like in the working environment”, he continued.
“The Youth Hub opens Monday to Thursday, 10am to 5pm. It’s a drop-in centre, so you can come in as a walk-in at the Weston Homes Stadium or you can book an appointment by dropping an email to YouthHub@theposh.com or go to the website. But ultimately, just come down and chill out – you don’t have to have employment support, you can literally just have a conversation about where you want to go”, Dean concluded.
The Youth Employment Hub can be found in the Networking Lounge of the Family Stand at the Weston Homes Stadium.
