Posh secure signature of young Burnley attacker for an undisclosed fee to bolster options ahead of the new campaign.
Peterborough United have boosted their attacking options ahead of the start of the Sky Bet League One season with the arrival of 19-year-old forward Vernon Masara from Burnley for an undisclosed fee.
Masara, who can operate anywhere across the front three, has penned a long-term deal with the club after completing the formalities at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.
Manager Luke Williams said: “Vernon is a player that has been in and around the first team at his previous club for a number of years and we are pleased that he has decided to join us for his next chapter. He is someone that can play across the attacking positions, so will add to our options in that department."
Masara, who progressed through Burnley's academy since the pre-academy stage, became a key Under 21s player at just 16 with a hat-trick away at Crewe Alexandra. His 21 goals across all age groups in 2023/24 won him the Academy Player of the Year award. He then had his first loan spell at FC United of Manchester in 2025."
Masara said: "I speak to my Dad about everything and when I called him to talk about the interest from Peterborough, he said 'let's do it' and I feel this is a great opportunity for me to come into a men's environment at a club that is really good at helping young players.
"I don't like to put too much pressure on myself, I like to play with freedom and try and express what I can do. I can play anywhere across the front, I like to get the ball and try and make things happen.
"I am really excited to get started, it is a good time to come into the group, it is a big week, now it is about getting to know everyone and showing what I can do on the training ground."
Vernon will wear the number 17 shirt. You can watch a full interview with Vernon on Posh+.
