Posh under 21s make it two wins in a week after an excellent 3-1 victory at Coventry City on Friday afternoon.

The Peterborough United under 21s recorded an impressive 3-1 victory at Coventry City in Professional Development League action on Friday afternoon.

It was an eventful afternoon with the first half full of goal-mouth action at both ends, the Sky Blues missing several chances in the opening few minutes including from the penalty spot after Donay O'Brien Brady had been penalised for a foul, Obikwu the culprit from 12-yards.

Malik Mothersille had the ball in the back of the net on six minutes after a superb pass from Jeando Fuchs, but the offside flag cut short the celebrations.

Three minutes later, Posh were awarded a penalty after Trialist B was upended in the box. MOTHERSILLE saw his penalty saved but he was there to slam home the rebound.

O'Brien-Brady saw a left-foot shot saved while at the other end, the Posh shot-stopper did well to keep out a fierce drive from Rus.

On 19 minutes, Posh doubled the lead and what a goal it was too, Will VAN LIER rifling an unstoppable effort from 25-yards into the top corner.

Tavares struck the woodwork with an excellent effort from just outside the box at the other end, before Trialist B fired wide for Posh after good work down the left.

Coventry reduced the arrears on the half hour mark through OBIKWU as he raced clear on the counter-attack.

Five minutes later, Posh restored their two-goal cushion as Trialist B was in the right place to fire home after good work from James Dornelly.

Dornelly was in the action at the other end to clear off the line before the half-time interval. Trialist A produced a fine stop to divert a low Tavares effort around the post on 53 minutes.

Jeando Fuchs was withdrawn as expected on the hour mark while Trialist B also made way for Gabe Overton.

O'Brien-Brady saw a dipping shot from range pushed around the post while Mothersille fired over the crossbar from the edge of the box.

Kai Corbett saw a last-minute strike tipped over by the keeper as Posh pushed for a fourth goal before the end.
