The Posh Under 21s put in an excellent display, but were unable to progress to the semi-finals of the PDL play-offs as Nottingham Forest struck late to earn a 1-0 win at the Weston Homes Stadium.
The Peterborough United youngsters created some good opportunities in front of goal and largely controlled the contest, but were undone late on as Forest progressed with a 1-0 victory on Bank Holiday Monday.
It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game after a mistake from Lucca Mendonca, but Gardner fired wide. Moments later, Noah Freeman went on a marauding run from deep, beating a number of players along the way, but his left-foot shot went wide.
Kamara fired straight at Murray-Jones moments later as Posh continued to threaten with Pemi Aderoju denied on 26 minutes after a Kamara shot rebounded kindly into his path.
Posh started the second half brightly with Kamara firing wide before goalkeeper Bastian Smith produced an excellent double stop to deny Modupe and Sillah at the other end.
Patryk Sykut saw a shot deflect wide of the target before Aderoju fired wide. It looked all one-way traffic, but the visitors broke on the counter-attack and punished Posh with SMITH guiding the ball into the corner.
Posh loaded the box to try and force the tie into extra-time, but Smith had to be alert at the other end to deny Sillah.
The Posh Under 21s are in action again on Tuesday night in the Hillier Cup final against Wellingborough, with the game played at Sileby Rangers (Fernie Fields), 7.45pm,
