Posh Under 21s continue excellent run of form with comfortable success over the Owls.
Peterborough United Under 21 delivered one of their most assured performances of the season as they swept aside Sheffield Wednesday Under 21s with a composed and commanding 3–0 win at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground.
Goals from Trialist A, Patryk Sykut and James Dornelly were enough to give the Posh another three points in the Professional Development League.
Posh made a bright and energetic start, immediately putting Sheffield Wednesday under pressure. Inside five minutes, Davies delivered a dangerous cross from the left, the ball ricocheting kindly toward Andre Changunda, but the forward swung and missed as Wednesday hurriedly cleared their lines.
Posh continued to press, and were hit on a deadly counter-attack, as Trialist B ran through, chipped Bastian Smith but his effort hit the crossbar and was then cleared. They were nearly caught out again a few minutes later but Smith was alert to it and cleared it from danger.
Bolu Shofowoke drove through the Sheffield Wednesday backline and forced a foul and yellow card in shooting distance of the goal. James Dornelly stepped up from the resulting set-piece but his effort was over the bar.
Posh struck first just after the second half had begun, with a floated corner bouncing around the box and TRIALIST A reacted quickest and found the back of the net for the opener.
Deja vu occurred just five minutes later, as another corner from the right was floated, Sheffield Wednesday failed to clear but this time it fell kindly to Patryk SYKUT, who calmly placed the ball into the corner.
Posh nearly made it three just before the hour mark, as Changunda’s drilled cross found Trialist A, but Streets managed to keep it out. Streets was at it again just two minutes later as he tipped a strong Eddie Fox header over the bar.
Posh got their third of the afternoon soon after, however, as James DORNELLY gets in on the act, as he drove through the Owls backline and slotted his effort home into the corner.
There were no further chances and Sam Gaughran's men secured their second successive clean sheet in the Professional Development League. They now have a lengthy break where they won’t play another league game until 13th January 2026.
