Bolu Shofowoke took his tally for the season to 25 across the Under 18s and Under 21s, but it was not enough to secure a victory over Huddersfield Town.
The Peterborough United Under 21s slipped to a 4-2 home defeat at the hands of Huddersfield Town on Tuesday afternoon despite a 25th goal of the season from striker Bolu Shofowoke.
The forward netted from the spot, but the visitors secured all three points after taking advantage from uncharacteristic errors at the back.
Posh played well for the first half an hour of the contest, but found themselves behind as SEBINE tapped home close-range after Ben Westcott could only parry the initial effort.
Westcott had already made a good stop to keep the scores level, while at the other end, a deflected Abbey effort was parried to safety.
Posh drew level two minutes after falling behind, Eddie FOX surging into his box and his shot was diverted into the back of the net via a deflection. On 31 minutes, Huddersfield were back in front as SEBINE took advantage of a long throw to round Westcott and score.
Five minutes before the break, it was 3-1 as SWAY took advantage of a defensive slip to fire past Westcott with his right-foot. On the stroke of half-time, Posh reduced the arrears with SHOFOWOKE sending the goalkeeper the wrong way from 12-yards after a handball was spotted in the box by the referee.
Huddersfield made it 4-2 early in the second half as SEBINE completed his hat-trick after more poor defending. Westcott made two saves in quick succession to keep Posh in it with substitute Benji McWilliams-Marcano denied at the other end.
In stoppage time, Westcott produced another fine save while Patryk Sykut fired over.
