The Posh Women Under 18s entered a first and a second team at the recent Thrapston tournament and despite being the youngest squads in action, they came away with two trophies!
The Under 18s came up against experienced and physical opposition throughout the day yet were victorious against the odds with the first team, playing without an established and regular goalkeeper, showing outstanding determination and desire to win to lift the trophy.
After coming through the group phase of the competition with one win, two draws and two losses, they stepped up when it mattered most with a 1-0 victory over Diamond Vets and then an incredible battling 1-0 win over Notts County Under 21s in the final.
The second XI also had a fantastic tournament, winning the Cup Winners Final on penalties. They topped their group with three wins and one loss and then overcame Oakham Women on penalties in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals, Corby Town were beaten 1-0 before lifting the trophy on penalty kicks in the final.
The Under 18s are just two weeks into pre-season, so to lift two trophies was a fantastic success and they are looking forward to what promises to be an exciting league campaign.
