Pemi Aderoju in action against Barnsley

Posh were beaten 2-1 at Oakwell by Barnsley in their latest trip on the road as the Tykes came from behind to secure all three points.

If you going to lose a football match, the manner in which it occurs can be chalk and cheese. On Saturday at Valley Parade, Peterborough United were dominated by a side gunning for promotion, but at Oakwell on Tuesday night, there were plenty of positives to take from the performance, albeit no points.

Luke Williams' side created a lot of good openings against a side that are probably in a false position in the league table and were unfortunate to concede the equaliser as an obvious foul against Peter Kioso was not spotted by the officials.

Posh lost Kyrell Lisbie to injury five minutes into the second half and ended proceedings with teenager Patryk Sykut pulling the strings in the attacking midfield role, to good effect in fairness.

Experienced front man McGoldrick headed over the first chance on 10 minutes before Harry Leonard was denied by Goodman after beating the offside trap to collect a lofted pass from Lisbie.

On 21 minutes, the deadlock was broken and Declan Frith played a starring role, cutting inside onto his left-foot before testing Goodman with a low drive, the effort was parried and LISBIE was there to snaffle his 10th league goal of the season.

On 29 minutes, a slick Posh move involving Carl Johnston and Lisbie created a chance for Leonard, but he sliced the opening away from goal. On 34 minutes, Luca CONNELL curled home with his left-foot from 20-yards to level the scores.

Leonard couldn't force a low cross from Dornelly past the keeper moments later as Posh tried to re-take the lead with penalty appeals for a foul on Morgan also turned down.

On the stroke of half-time, Morgan fired over the top after more good work from Frith. On 53 minutes, Barnsley took the lead as CLEARY was allowed time and space to pick the corner from inside the box.

Khela sliced a shot wide on the hour mark before a low drive from the same player was held by Goodman. Bass did well to keep out a McGoldrick effort from close-range before Morgan and Johnston fired wide.

In stoppage time, Sykut saw a low drive held by Goodman as Posh succumbed to a second defeat in a row on the road.
