Action between Posh and Huddersfield Town

Posh suffered their first defeat under Robbie Savage as promotion contenders Huddersfield Town won 4-1 at the Accu Stadium.

Peterborough United were beaten 4-1 by Huddersfield Town in Sky Bet League One action on Tuesday night as former front man Joe Taylor and ex-loanee Bali Mumba were on target.

Taylor scored twice and had an attempt for a hat-trick cleared off the line as the home side secured back-to-back victories following the weekend success at Plymouth Argyle.

It was a nightmare start for Posh as Ilias BRONKHORST guided an Archie Collins set-piece past Alex Bass from close-range.

The rest of the first 45 minutes included moments with Brandon Khela and Bolu Shofowoke both seeing efforts blocked within the penalty area.

The home side had plenty of territory with Taylor finding the side-netting on 11 minutes and Brokhorst firing over from 12-yards. Fletcher saw an effort pushed around the post by Alex Bass on 35 minutes before Vernon Masara fired over from the edge of the box.

Humphreys fired over from a set-piece two minutes into the second half before Williams sent a curling effort straight at Young. Substitute Ormerod had a chance to go through on goal, but his first touch allowed a fine defensive tackle.

On 65 minutes, the home side doubled their lead as TAYLOR took advantage of a defensive slip to race clean through on goal, finding a calm finish past Bass with his right-foot.

Two minutes later, Posh halved the deficit as Harry LEONARD found the bottom corner with an instinctive strike from the edge of the area.

However, Posh were only in the game for a couple of minutes as TAYLOR tapped home at the back post following a low cross from the right.

On 72 minutes, Frith delivered an excellent centre for Leonard, but his shot was somehow kept out by the body of Young. On 78 minutes, ex-Posh loanee Bali MUMBA completed the scoring, finding the corner after linking with Fernandes.

Williams saw a free-kick beaten away by Young on 85 minutes with Danny Ormerod heading the rebound wide. Johnston did well to head off the line as Taylor went in search of his hat-trick late on.
