A strong Posh XI moved into the semi-finals of the Hillier Senior Cup with a comfortable 4-0 victory over Sileby Rangers on Tuesday evening,
Featuring a host of players from the first team squad, it was always expected that Peterborough United would be too strong for their Step Five opponents Sileby Rangers and so it proved.
Patryk Sykut, who is set to go away on international duty for Ukraine Under 19s next week, scored twice with additional goals from Declan Frith and Ejiro Abbey.
The deadlock was broken on 13 minutes, two efforts from Chris Conn-Clarke and Frith were blocked before SYKUT swept home a low strike from just inside the box that found the corner.
Frith fired over on 31 minutes and Conn-Clarke sent an effort from around 12-yards wide of the far post before FRITH doubled the lead, arriving at the back post to fire into the roof of the net with his left-foot.
Posh had numerous chances to extend the advantage inside the opening five minutes of the second half with Abbey, Sykut and Conn-Clarke all going close, the latter seeing his powerful drive cannon off the crossbar.
On 57 minutes, it was 3-0, Conn-Clarke did all the hard work, drifting past players before his fierce drive was tipped onto the post, ABBEY there to fire home the rebound.
On 67 minutes, it was 4-0 and it was a second of the evening for SYKUT, who finished well after good work down the right from Donay O'Brien-Brady and James Dornelly.
Andeng Ndi made a fine double save on 69 minutes to keep out a free-kick and then the rebound from close-range. A few minutes later, Abbey saw an effort ruled out for offside, before the hosts hit the post, Andeng Ndi doing well to prevent the ball rolling over the line off the back of the shot-stopper.
Sykut, Conn-Clarke and Dornelly all had chances to make it 5-0 in the last 10 minutes, but they settled for the four to progress into the next round of the competition.
