Posh suffer 4-2 defeat at Mansfield Town in their penultimate Sky Bet League One fixture of the season.
It was an evening to forget for Peterborough United on Wednesday evening as Nigel Clough's Mansfield Town side ran out 4-2 winners at the One Call Stadium.
Darren Ferguson's men were largely second best all over the pitch and went into the interval 3-0 down, but goals from Ryan De Havilland and Gustav Lindgren did bring a bit of respectability to the score-line.
The Stags raced out of the blocks and opened the scoring on four minutes through former Cambridge United attacker George MARIS who poked home at the near post.
Blackmore did well to keep out Baccus' low strike moments later before the Stags did double their lead as BACCUS swept a shot into the corner.
Mason did well to keep out Lindgren before Malik Mothersille tested the goalkeeper with a low strike.
Mothersille then hit the post as his cross to the back post eluded everyone and hit the base of the woodwork.
However, Mansfield added a third before the break as EVANS guided a looping header over Blackmore at the back post.
Posh reduce the arrears through a low Ryan DE HAVILLAND strike but it was soon 4-1 as EVANS found the back of the net via the inside of the post from 25-yards.
Mansfield squandered plenty of chances of their own before Lindgren muscled his way into the box only to see his effort cannon back off the crossbar.
LINDGREN did reduce the arrears in the final 10 minutes, sweeping home an Abraham Odoh pass to halve the deficit to two.
