The Posh Under 18s suffered defeat on the opening day of the Professional Development League campaign.
The Peterborough United Under 18s were beaten 4-2 by Brentford at Wheatsheaf Park on the opening day of the Professional Development League campaign despite a well-taken brace by striker Bolu Shofowoke.
The Bees opened the scoring through Jovan KASUJJA who took advantage of a clearance that rebounded into the back of the net and Yerime OUATTARA tapped home a second.
Simmons came close to reducing the arrears before SHOFOWOKE did halve the deficit as he struck a stunning left-foot finish past the keeper three minutes from the interval.
Westcott did well to deny the Bees front man at the start of the second half, while Joseph, Bushell and Arber all produced fine defensive blocks.
Westcott kept out a diving header from a corner kick before the Bees extended their advantage from the spot, BONI converting the penalty.
GISSCOMBE added a fourth after good work from Bobb-Semple before SHOFOWOKE weaved past his marker before drilling the ball into the corner to get his second of the afternoon.
Lead Under 18s Coach Jimmy Unwin said: "It was a difficult first half for us and we knew it would be a tough opening to the season, but I thought it was a good game of football at times on a really nice surface.
"We had a couple of chances to score, both at 1-0 and before the break and we didn't take them and you get punished, but there were positives from the performance."
