Academy Malaga Pre-Season Trip

Academy Director Dan Robinson has placed on record his thanks to Malaga City Football Club for the hospitality afforded to the PDP trip to Spain last week.

Players from the Under 21s and Under 18s flew out to Spain last Monday and spent five days at their base as they were put through their paces by the coaches in stifling temperatures.

After a 2-2 draw with Wycombe Wanderers in their opening friendly, both age groups will be involved in further friendly fixtures before the start of the Professional Development League fixtures.

Robinson believes the training camp was hugely beneficial and was full of gratitude for the staff at their hosts. "It was a brilliant trip," Robinson said. "A massive thank you to Malaga City FC, they did a fantastic job of looking after us both in terms of the accommodation, the location and training facilities. We will definitely be going back.

"We formed a great relationship with them and for us to take the boys and staff there for a few days, outside of their comfort zone, was massively beneficial. The boys worked unbelievably hard, harder than I have seen them work before in my time and it will certainly stand them in good stead, it was a lot of rewarding work.

"We are looking forward to getting back to normal in the UK as preparations continue for the start of the campaign," Robinson said.
