Pre-Season Training

It started with hard work in the sun and ended in disappointment in front of the TV screens for the Posh squad as they completed day three of their training camp in Spain.

The day started with plenty of optimism ahead of the semi-final of the World Cup with England taking on Argentina as the players discussed the game over breakfast.

The weather also looked like it might provide some respite from recent days as the sun failed to make an appearance until just as the players stepped foot on the pitch.

From then on, the ''feels like" temperature was close to 45 degrees as the sun baked down. The players first session involved plenty of fitness work as well as possession based drills, while the goalkeepers were put through their paces by Goalkeeping Coach Richard Taylor.

Taylor said: "We had some good sessions back in England, but we are not too far into pre-season, so out here, it has been about working on those technical aspects and continuing to spend time together.

"Everyone talks about the 'union' and it is true, you do spend a lot of time together on and off the pitch. Collin has come in and settled in quickly and we are looking forward to the next couple of days and the second pre-season fixture."

After lunch and a mobility session in the gym, the players were back out in the soaring temperatures to get their second session underway and this was more tactical as manager Luke Williams worked on an 11v11, spending time to get his message across when something went awry.

With Benji McWilliams-Marcano and Joe Andrews re-joining the group from the PDP tour down the road in Malaga, it was a sharp session as the players turned their attentions towards Friday's clash with Neom SC.

Following dinner and a short meeting, the players then gathered in the clubhouse to watch the semi-final and the 90 minutes was full of emotion and twists and turns with Argentina eventually coming out on top in stoppage time, leaving the majority of the group deflated.
