Training

With Saudi Pro League side Neom SC set to provide the opposition for Posh in the second pre-season friendly of the trip on Friday evening, the training session on day four was certainly high in intensity.

However, before the players headed down to the training pitch, it was breakfast and they say it is the most important meal of the day, so it was important the players were fuelled ready for the day.

Our hosts at La Cala have been superb all week and the food has been outstanding with everything you could imagine (checked off of course by Head of Sports Science Lewis Keeble) as options.

While many tourists get excited by the prospect of a Fanta Lemon, it was the lure of apple or orange juice that has been a key component to keep cool at the dining table.

After pre-hab, the players made the 10-minute walk down to the pitch and it is certainly much more manageable travelling down than it is up with a 44m incline the other way according to this writer's Strava (and yes it is recording for that journey back).

Pre-Season Training

After a warm-up, the players were straight into an attack v defence drill with the management displaying lots of enthusiasm as the players threw themselves at the ball to protect the goal.

The players then went into an 11v11 as attention turned to Friday night's friendly against a side that could include Alexandre Lacazette and Saïd Benrahma.

After lunch, the players had a number of meetings as the temperatures soared past 40 degrees before Analyst Dan Hutchings orchestrated a well-run football quiz, which was won by the team of Richard Taylor (GK Coach), Kyrell Lisbie, Tom O'Connor, Benji McWilliams-Marcano, David Kamara and me (Phil Adlam).

The players have a training session on Friday morning before heading across to the Banus Football Center for the game against Neom SC, which gets underway at 7pm (Spanish time).
