Peterborough United Women will face Real Bedford for a place in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup second round proper on Sunday (2pm).

October has been a lone month for Adobe Women’s FA Cup action, having beaten Notts County earlier in the month to seal a place in the competition proper, thanks to three goals from Kira Rai in the space of five minutes to give us breathing space at PIMS Park.

Sunday’s opponents need no real introduction, coming out on top in the League Cup earlier in the season – a match that otherwise pleased Manager Jake Poole given the amount of changes he made to the starting line-up, who will be looking to replicate or better his side’s run in the competition last year.

Niamh Reynolds scored late on in that one, sending the game to penalties, where Hannah Dawbarn sealed our progression to the next round at the home of Peterborough Sports.

TEAM NEWS

Jake Poole has one or two injury issues to contend with ahead of the game with striker Tara Kirk still working her way back to fitness. Goalkeeper Neive Corry, who missed the tie with Notts County, is expected to return between the sticks.

MANAGER QUOTES

"We are really looking forward to the game, it should be a good occasion, but ultimately we are going into the game with the intention of trying to get through to the next round. It will be tough, Real Bedford are a Tier 3 side and beat us in the League Cup last month, but we made changes that day and our priority is the league and the Adobe Women's FA Cup,," Jake Poole said.
