Posh Women

Peterborough United Women have the chance to go top of the FA Women's National League Midlands with a result against Northampton Town on Wednesday evening (7.45pm).

Peterborough United Women will look to make it 14 unbeaten in the league and reclaim pole position, after Boldmere St Michaels' 3-0 win over Sutton Coldfield yesterday moved them two points ahead in the promotion race.

Today’s game was set out to be the second of a three-game week, but as the weekend trip to Stourbridge was cancelled for a third time due to heavy rainfall in the West Midlands, Jake Poole’s side will feel freshened going into a massive Nene Derby.

Both teams have shown movement at either end of the table in recent weeks; our visitors moving away from the relegation spots under new management, while a win over Sutton Coldfield moved us back up to top spot temporarily with two games in hand.

But with our healthy goal difference, one point would be enough to move us back up to top, and level on points with the Mikes. Poole's side will be searching for all three, though, but it will be a tough ask, as the Cobblers arrive in a bullish mood themselves, and will look to make up for the 7-3 Nene Derby defeat back in October.

MANAGER QUOTES

"We know Northampton will pose a really tough test, as they have shown in recent weeks against the other top teams in the league. We must expect them to be aggressive and in our faces, but we know that if we can match that, then we have the ability across our squad to be successful. Recent weeks have shown that every game is of equal importance in this league, and we approach this with the same focus as we do any other," Jake Poole said.
