Posh U23s begin their pre-season schedule with a visit from Histon Ladies.

Peterborough United Women’s U23s are set to kick off their 23/24 pre-season schedule as they welcome Histon Ladies FC to the idverde Training Ground on Sunday afternoon (3pm KO).

The under 23s returned to pre-season at the beginning of the month, with a brand new coaching staff and a couple of new faces arriving to the team. Michael Allsebrook, the new under 23s manager, is eagerly anticipating the game and already has high expectations for the team.

Allsebrook said: “We’re really happy with the squad we’ve got, everyone’s worked really hard for the last couple of weeks. We feel like whatever team we’re taking on Sunday is that every player is ready to play their part and everyone is ready to make an impact and show what they can do”.

The two sides met last season in a pre-season friendly and ended in a draw. Histon Ladies currently compete in the Alan Boswell Group Cambridgeshire Girls and Women’s Football League, finishing second in the table last season. Allsebrook believes the friendly is a good opportunity and gives them a nice benchmark as to where they are.

He said: “We know that compared to last season, the squad has changed quite a lot, but there’s a lot of new talent coming through. For us, it’s a really good opportunity just to see what we are as a squad ahead of the new campaign."
