Posh Women secure successive victories at Abbey Lawn.

A bright performance from Jake Poole’s side saw them run out 3-0 winners against Notts County Women on Sunday afternoon at a sunny Abbey Lawn, securing back-to-back home victories in the FA Women’s National League Division One Midlands.

It was an attacking display from Posh from the first whistle as Katie Middleton’s cross found Renai Bennett in the box, but her effort was straight at Ash Hind.

Middleton turned provider again as she delivered an inviting ball to Tara Kirk, she turned her defender but dragged her effort wide of the post just after 10 minutes.

Posh continued to create chances as Evie Driscoll-King and Middleton combined well on the left; the latter advanced into the box but curled her effort inches past the post.

Keir Perkins sent a low cross at the near post to Kirk, but her effort clipped a defender and went wide of the far post.

Niamh Reynolds forced Hind into a save from distance before Neive Corry was eventually called into action after the half-hour mark, with Rea Bailey testing the Posh shot-stopper from the edge of the box.

Chances continued for Posh in the second-half as a shot from Reynolds rose above the bar minutes after the restart.

Jake Poole made changes just before the hour mark as Lauren Wilshaw and Ella Bale replaced Renai Bennett and Keir Perkins.

Wilshaw, fresh from her introduction, cut in on the left before playing the ball to Kirk but her effort failed to test Hind.

On 65 minutes, Corry kept out Bailey's effort as the Magpies saw a rare sight at goal, before Meg Lawlor’s long-range was tipped onto the crossbar by Hind.

Posh made further changes as Connor, Middleton and Kirk were replaced by Emily Sharpe, Poppie Brown and Marthina Aguirre.

It was an immediate impact from BROWN as James squared the ball to her before firing into the back of the net with her first touch of the ball.

James searched for another assist as she laid the ball off to Bale but her effort was straight at Hind.

Posh doubled their lead on 78 minutes as DRISCOLL-KING struck from the edge of the box and into the net through the legs of Hind.

There was some great work down the right from substitutes Aguirre and Bale before the latter squared to HINES, who slotted into the corner to confirm the three points for Posh with minutes to spare.

Peterborough United Women are next in action on Thursday 13th February (7.45pm) as they travel to Loughborough Lightning.

Posh: Corry, Connor (sub Sharpe 69min), Driscoll-King, James, Hines, Lawlor, Bennett (sub Wilshaw 59min), Reynolds, Perkins (sub Bale 59min), Middleton (sub Brown 72min), Kirk (sub Aguirre 72min).
