Natalie Hurst

The Posh Women have bolstered their defensive options ahead of the weekend clash at Long Eaton United.

The Peterborough United Women have boosted their defensive options ahead of Sunday’s FAWNL trip to Long Eaton United with the signing of Natalie Hurst, who has most recently been with Holwell Sports.

The defender, who met her new team-mates at Wednesday night’s training session at the idverde Training Ground, will go straight into Dan Lawlor’s squad for the clash with Long Eaton, who are looking to build on an impressive start to their campaign.

Lawlor said: “Natalie is a really experienced player, who will add so much experience and calmness to our back-line. She can play as a centre back or in central midfield. She will demand from everyone else, she will organise and talk from the back. I would describe her as an old school player, who keeps it nice and simple.

“She will block shots and heads the ball as good as any defender at this level. This is a huge signing for us and we are excited to have her on board. I am looking forward to working with her.”

Hurst added: “I am delighted to get a ball back at my feet, it feels like a long time since I have said that. The girls have made me feel very welcome, the manager is really nice and it is a wonderful set-up here. When Dan offered me the chance to come and sign, I was really happy to do so, whatever the position I play, I want to use my experience and help the team. It is quite a young squad so hopefully I can help.

“I am really passionate about communication on the pitch, I like to talk and help my team-mates. People always say that I never shut up, but that is just me. I can’t wait to get started and try and help us get some positive results.”
