The Posh Women were knocked out of the FAWNL Cup by fellow Northern Premier Division side Norwich City at the Nest on Sunday afternoon.
A five minute spell just before the half-time interval ultimately proved the undoing for the Peterborough United Women as Jake Poole's side conceded three times in six minutes to exit the FAWNL Cup.
For long spells in the first half, Posh were in control and creating the better chances in the game, but a mistake from the officials led to the opening goal and then two defensive mistakes handed the Canaries further goals before the break.
Posh steadied the ship in the second half, but conceded a fourth four minutes from the 90-minute mark to end their participation in the competition.
Norwich goalkeeper Poppy Irvine was certainly the busier of the two shot-stoppers throughout the contest, with the custodian making a string of first half saves, keeping out Crista Ganado, Lauren Wilshaw and Rebecca Mears with Kayleigh Hines firing a long-range free-kick just wide of the target.
Posh had made a host of changes for the cup-tie to give other players minutes while the home side made just two changes, one of which was between the sticks.
Norwich scored three times before the interval, two from close-range with a third a clearance that rebounded into the back of the net. After the break, Posh continued to attack in search of a way back into the game with Jessica Driscoll, Courtney Clarke and Ellie May all going close.
Norwich had two goals rightly chalked off for fouls and an offside call, but did add a fourth with a well-taken effort on 86 minutes. Posh are next in action on Sunday when they travel to Lye Town in the first round of the Women's FA Cup.
