Peterborough United Women were beaten 2-0 away at Norwich City in the FAWNL Cup group phase.

Posh Women have work to do going into the remaining two group phase fixtures, after slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Norwich City.

The game hung in the balance in the opening ten minutes, with Neive Corry meeting the Canaries’ opening effort comfortably.

Jessica Stanford connected well with Lauren Wilshaw, who dug in a ball towards a dangerous area, but nothing came from it after good defending by the hosts.

City’s defensive block allowed space to attack at the other end, as Hall found space for the home side, only to pick out the side-netting.

Norwich continued to work a shooting angle; this time it was Francis who struck wide, before Hall was found in space in the middle, but her header went high.

The home side took the lead on 26 minutes when MOORE finished into the bottom corner, but Posh reacted well and immediately attacked down the other end when Evie Driscoll-King’s drive was met from distance.

Our number five was then fed down the right, sending the ball across the face of goal with Freya Andersen – who was announced this evening - arriving late, but the City keeper did well to claw the ball on the line.

Posh had it all to do after the break, after captain Kayleigh Hines was shown a straight red for an incident with Hall.

But Poole’s side failed to let up as Renai Bennett tried her luck from a wide angle, which was routine enough for Mears.

City began to pour bodies forward – after Keir Perkins was temporarily sent to the side for dissent – and Hall put the result beyond doubt, sending the ball into the bottom corner from close range.
