Rachel Lawrence

Lawrence signs for Posh Women.

Peterborough United Women have bolstered their options for the rest of the 2022/23 campaign with the signing of former Leicester City Women midfielder Rachel Lawrence.

Lawrence started her career at Leicester City Women, rising through the set-up alongside Tara Kirk, Zaiga Lacite and Evie Driscoll-King, and made her senior debut for The Foxes in 2019 against Manchester United in the Continental Cup.

Described as an energetic and hard-working player, usually utilised as a midfielder and at full-back, Lawrence has spent the last year playing for her university team but is eager to get started at Posh.

ā€œI’m looking forward to the new challenge,ā€ said Lawrence, ā€œI have heard great things about the club and just can’t wait to get started now. I have kept an eye on the team’s performance so far this season, and they have had some good results, and it seems like a great team to fit my skillset, which will make it easier to fit in.

ā€œIt’s nice to join a club where you know a few players and allows me to get straight into the group. Although I haven’t played competitively in over a year, featuring for my university team though, but I’m back enjoying my football once again and looking forward to starting my journey with Posh.ā€

Manager Dan Lawlor added: ā€œWe are really happy to have signed Rachel. She has been to a couple of training sessions now and is a real positive signing for us, a player that will cause defenders plenty of problems. She has a great delivery on her and is quite pacy, so it’s a really good addition for us at an important stage of the season."
