Posh welcome Wigan Athletic to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action (3.01pm).
Ahead of three successive away games, Peterborough United will be seeking home comforts when they welcome Wigan Athletic to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3.01pm).
Posh go into the game on the back of two successive defeats at the hands of Stevenage and Huddersfield Town with Wigan also arriving on the back of defeats.
The kick-off time of 3.01pm is designed to raise awareness of Sky Bet and the British Heart Foundation’s transformative Every Minute Matters campaign, which, with the support of the EFL, has already inspired over 400,000 people to start learning CPR since the campaign launched in May 2024.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are expected to welcome back defender David Okagbue after injury to the squad, but Sam Hughes, Harley Mills, Rio Adebisi, Jacob Mendy and Ben Woods are sidelined, while manager Luke Williams hinted there are a few others carrying knocks.
Wigan made two signings on deadline day and also have former Posh front man Joe Taylor now in their ranks. Winger Caylan Vickers on loan from Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion after a successful loan stint with Barnsley earlier in the campaign.
ONE TO WATCH
Joe Taylor
Joe Taylor (pictured in action below) shouldn’t need too much of an introduction to Posh fans after he was signed from non-league side King's Lynn Town. Taylor has certainly enjoyed a stronger career to date, joining Luton Town from Posh before a big money move to Huddersfield Town in the summer.
Things haven’t worked out as planned at the Terriers and he has joined Wigan for regular first team football. A quick, direct front man, Taylor works hard for the cause and will be a constant menace this afternoon.
MANAGER QUOTES
"Wigan are a side that I don't expect to be in the mix for relegation come the end of the season, they have a lot of quality and I have enjoyed watching them over the last couple of weeks in terms of the way that they play. They don't concede many goals so it might be a challenge to break them down," Luke Williams said.
