Posh welcome local rivals Northampton Town to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Peterborough United entertain Northampton Town in Sky Bet League One action at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon (3pm) as Luke Williams side look to back up the midweek win at Reading.

Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Harry Leonard were on target against the Royals as Posh recorded an important 2-1 victory and go into the game with the Cobblers high on confidence.

The Shoe Army drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town at Sixfields and Kevin Nolan's men have enjoyed a positive first half of the campaign, picking up some impressive results along the way.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of George Nevett, Rio Adebisi, Cian Hayes and Sam Hughes, while Williams confirmed that Tom O'Connor remains on the treatment table. Williams said it is not 'serious', but is 'worse than initially feared'.

Sam Hoskins and Cameron McGeehan are both in contention to play after injuries but Jack Vale and Jordan Willis remain sidelined.

ONE TO WATCH

Ethan Wheatley

Northampton Town signed Manchester United striker Ethan Wheatley (pictured below) on a season long loan in August 2025. The 6ft 2in striker has played three times for United in the Premier League and was also part of their squad for their 2024 Emirates FA Cup semi final win over Coventry City. Wheatley is also an England under 19 international, and after a short loan spell at Walsall last season, this summer he scored twice in two games for England in the 2025 Under 19 European Championships, netting against both Germany and the Netherlands.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It is a big game for us because it is a game against our rivals. We have spoken to the players about the importance of the body language on the pitch, we know the first minutes in the game might be frantic. It is one we are looking forward too, it is one that I am looking forward too. We go into the game on the back of an important win in midweek and we want to build momentum, because we lost that a little bit," Luke Williams said.
