Weston Homes Stadium

Posh welcome Luton Town to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday (12.30pm) in the first home league game of the season for Darren Ferguson's men.

Peterborough United entertain a side that were in the Premier League two years ago at the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday as Luton Town visit PE2.

The Hatters suffered a second successive relegation earlier this year, but started life back in League One with three points after an opening day success over AFC Wimbledon at Kenilworth Road.

Posh go into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City with Bradley Ihionvien on target for Ferguson's men.

TEAM NEWS

Posh are without the services of goalkeeper Alex Bass due to a foot injury and defender Sam Hughes due to an Achilles injury. Hughes is due to have his operation on Friday.

Oscar Wallin and Bradley Ihionvien have both recovered from knocks while Will Blackmore is back in training after a bout of Covid and Rio Adebisi is on track for a September return.

New Luton signing Jerry Yates has been described as 'not ready' for a starting berth by Matt Bloomfield and a number of other players participated in an Under 21 fixture this week to obtain more match minutes.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It is a good game for us, one that we are looking forward too. I am sure it will be a good atmosphere, they have sold out their area behind the goal and I am sure there will be lots of Posh fans there. There were positives to take from the opening day and it wasn't as disappointing as I thought it was live, but there is no doubt we need to use the ball better when we are in possession," Darren Ferguson said.

TICKET NEWS

Luton Town have sold out the GH Display Stand and are also accommodating the away section of the Kings Power Solution Stand. Tickets for Posh fans are available now at www.theposhtickets.com or via the Ticket Office at the Weston Homes Stadium.

ONE TO WATCH

Jordan Clark is the longest-serving player in the Luton Town squad with the 31-year-old originally joining the club in 2020 after a four-year stint with Accrington Stanley. Clark (pictured below) played a key role in the club's rise to the Premier League, including scoring in the play-off final victory.

He is known for his versatility, fitness, and work rate, covering the most distance for the team each week and he was in the Hatters side in their opening day victory over AFC Wimbledon. Clark’s consistency has led to the boss Bloomfield describing him recently as the ‘heartbeat’ of the club and you can see why, particularly given the turnover of players in recent seasons.
