The Robbie Savage era begins on Tuesday night as Posh welcome Ipswich Town Under 21s to the Weston Homes Stadium for the second group game of the Jersey Mike's Trophy (7pm).
Peterborough United can secure their progress into the knockout stages of the Jersey Mike's Trophy (EFL Trophy) with a victory over the Tractor Boys on Tuesday evening, while even a draw gives a good opportunity to qualify.
Posh sit in second place in the group with three points from their opening game against Colchester United. Luton Town are top with five points after two games after winning their penalty shoot-out against the U's. Ipswich are bottom of the group after one game, a heavy defeat at Kenilworth Road against the Hatters.
TEAM NEWS
Midfielder Brandon Khela has recovered from injury and is expected to be named in the squad while fellow midfielder Matt Garbett is also expected to be available for selection. Declan Frith returned to training this week after a long lay off and could be in contention, but David Okagbue, Josh Feeney and Vernon Masara are away on international duty.
Sam Hughes, Rio Adebisi and Tom O'Connor were all on the training pitch this week, but won't be involved. Ipswich are expected to field an XI from their Academy, but one or two first team players may get minutes given the lack of fixtures for the Premier League side due to the international break.
FROM THE MANAGER
"This competition is important to the club and is important to me, Posh have had a lot of success in the competition and we will be looking to qualify for the knockout stages. I want my team to go out there and be positive, score some goals and win the game, that is the expectation," Robbie Savage said.
