The EFL Trophy group stage gets underway on Tuesday night as Posh welcome Colchester United to the Weston Homes Stadium (7pm).
Peterborough United get their EFL Trophy campaign underway on Tuesday night under the lights at the Weston Homes Stadium with Sky Bet League Two side Colchester United the visitors.
Posh were drawn in a group with the U's, Ipswich Town Under 21s and holders Luton Town and will be looking to get off to a positive start against Danny Cowley's side.
Posh will be managed by Ryan Harley on the night following the departure of Luke Williams after Saturday's home defeat to Doncaster Rovers.
TEAM NEWS
Posh will be without the services of Tom O'Connor, Sam Hughes, Rio Adebisi, Declan Frith and Matt Garbett due to injury. Brandon Khela missed the weekend, but could be back in contention. There could be changes from the defeat at the weekend with a number of players looking to stake a claim for a starting berth.
Colchester have on-loan Posh forward Bradley Ihionvien in their ranks, but he is not permitted to play as per the terms of his loan agreement.

Harry Anderson
Harry Anderson (pictured below) once again linked up with Danny Cowley at Colchester United after a successful loan spell towards the end of the 2023/24 campaign. He was released by Stevenage, before signing a two-year deal to stay in North Essex in June 2024.
Harry progressed through the youth system with Peterborough United, and made a handful of appearances for Posh before his first link up with the Cowley's at Braintree on loan in 2016. Anderson would rejoin the management duo in August, this time at Lincoln City on loan – the club for which he has made most appearances.
Three spells saw the wide player gain two promotions (from the National League and League Two), as well as playing his part in the Imps’ memorable FA Cup run in 2016/17, amassing over 200 appearances and scoring thirty-three goals at Sincil Bank between 2016 and 2021.

"I have been asked to take the team for this game and that is all I am focussing on at this moment in time. This club have a good record in the competition and we want to get off to a good start in the group phase," Ryan Harley said.

The Kings Power Solution Stand and The Meerkat Family Stand will be open for this fixture with the Weston Homes London Road End and GH Display Stand closed. Colchester fans will be accommodated in the away section of the Kings Power Solutions Stand.

COMPETITION RULES
If the scores are level after 90 minutes, there will be a penalty shoot-out to determine the extra point.
