Posh welcome another side hunting promotion back to the Sky Bet Championship on Easter Monday (3pm).

Peterborough United are back in action at the Weston Homes Stadium on Easter Monday (3pm) as Cardiff City visit PE2 looking to solidify their position in the automatic promotion slots.

The Bluebirds have been trying to keep pace with the in-form Lincoln City but with a ten point gap to the Imps (with a game in hand), Brian Barry-Murphy's side will be wanting to ensure the eight point gap to Bolton Wanderers in third doesn't get any smaller.

Cardiff didn't play on Good Friday due to Port Vale's involvement in the Emirates FA Cup, while Posh were beaten 2-1 by Luton Town at Kenilworth Road despite Jimmy-Jay Morgan's fifth goal in the last five games.

TEAM NEWS

Posh welcomed back Tom Lees, Ben Woods and Harry Leonard from injury on Friday, while David Okagbue is fit after a scare on international duty. He was a second half substitute against the Hatters, partly as the scan results were awaited and also because of the travel he endured while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland Under 21s.

Matt Garbett is nearing a return, but Sam Hughes, Donay O'Brien-Brady, Carl Johnston and Rio Adebisi remain sidelined. Cardiff City are still waiting for top scorer Yousef Salech to return from his neck injury.

Salech has not played since sustaining the injury during a 1-1 draw against Stockport County on 24th January. He has resumed training but it remains unclear when he will be back in first-team action.

The same is true of forward Isaak Davies, who has been out since 7 February due to a combination of concussion and hamstring issues.

ONE TO WATCH

Rubin Colwill

Rubin has been at the Club since the age of eight, and made his debut for the Bluebirds on February 13th, 2021 as a substitute in a 3-1 victory against Coventry City at CCS.

The attacker went on to make six appearances for City in 2020/21 and his breakout season was rewarded with a first Under 21 call-up for Wales. He would subsequently be called into the EURO 2020 training group by Rob Page, before being selected in the final 26-man squad for the tournament.

Rubin scored six goals for City during the 2021/22 season and registered his first international strike in a 1-1 draw with Czech Republic on March 30th, 2022. He also featured for Wales in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He was on target earlier this season when Cardiff beat Posh 2-1 and has recently returned to the fold after a spell on the sidelines.

MANAGER QUOTES

"It is a game that we have to look forward to because they are a side that are flying high in the division, but also because we are back at home in front of our own supporters. Our last game at home ended in a good, positive result, but we know that this will be a test because they have some excellent players all over the pitch. We have to take the positives from the last third of the game against Luton, we are getting players back and getting minutes into them, which is a positive," Luke Williams said.
