Posh welcome AFC Wimbledon to the Weston Homes Stadium on Saturday afternoon in Sky Bet League One action (3pm).
Luke Williams takes charge of his first league game as Peterborough United manager on Saturday as AFC Wimbledon visit the Weston Home Stadium in Sky Bet League One action (3pm).
The new Posh boss started his tenure with victory in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup last time out as a Harry Leonard goal was enough to see off Cardiff City.
The Dons have enjoyed an excellent start to life in League One, but were beaten last time out, with non-league Gateshead providing a cup shock at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
TEAM NEWS
Posh are without the services of Rio Adebisi, Sam Hughes, Cian Hayes and George Nevett, but are hopeful that Matt Garbett will return to the squad after injury.
The Dons are without former Posh striker Mathew Stevens who has missed over a month of action after making a fine start to life in League One with five goals. Danilo Orsi could lead the line.
ONE TO WATCH
Myles Hippolyte
Capped at full international level by Grenada, Myles Hippolyte (pictured below) made his mark for his country by scoring against the USA, and he joined the Dons in the summer after a big achievement on these shores – winning the League Two title with Stockport County.
After catching the eye as a schoolboy at Harrow Youth League club Westway, Hippolyte had spells in the youth set-ups at Fulham, QPR, Reading and Brentford, before reigniting his career with Southall, Tamworth, Hayes & Yeading and Burnham. Following a spell with Falkirk, Hippolyte helped St Mirren into the Scottish Premiership and also had stints at Dunfermline, Yeovil and Scunthorpe, before back-to-back promotions with Stockport – helping County from the National League into League One.
STAT PACK
After winning their last league game against AFC Wimbledon in February 2021, Peterborough United will be looking to win successive matches against the Dons for the first time.
Since winning their first away league game against Peterborough United in October 2016, AFC Wimbledon have since failed to win of any of their four visits to London Road in the EFL (D1 L3).
The last meeting between the two sides came in January 2024 where Posh ran out 3-1 winners thanks to goals from Ephron Mason-Clark, Malik Mothersille and Ricky-Jade Jones in the Bristol Street Motors Trophy.
MANAGER QUOTES
"I managed against Wimbledon when I was at Notts County in League Two and they were brilliant. I left County when they were fifth in January of that season, but Johnnie stayed with Wimbledon and just carried on building. He’s been rewarded for intelligent use of his time with a promotion and with a great start to this season.
"It is absolutely impossible to expect an easy game against Wimbledon. It just won’t happen. They are a well-oiled machine. They have a fantastic group of players and they are all committed to the cause. Their levels rarely drop and they are making life in League One look must less challenging than it actually is," Williams said.
