The Posh Under 21s were beaten 4-1 by Cardiff City at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon.
Peterborough United Under 21s suffered their first defeat of the season at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground to Welsh side Cardiff City.
A set-piece goal gave Posh the lead, but the visitors scored four times without response and suffered a first defeat of the campaign.
Posh started the game on the front foot, with Trialist A finding Conn-Clarke who drags his early effort wide. With eleven minutes on the clock, De Havilland found Conn-Clarke who spun his man and forced a save from Cardiff goalkeeper Higgs.
After a long spell of possession, Posh suffered multiple fast breaks, with both Spiers and Perrett both having shots saved by Bilokapic. Spiers broke down the right flank on 20 minutes and his shot rebounded off the post from close range.
Posh took the lead when a corner from the left hand side was headed home by Fabian CLAXTON. Posh felt they should’ve got into the break in the lead, but Cardiff equalised well into stoppage time of the first half, as Jake DAVIES found the back of the net.
Posh started the second half with a change, as Trialist A was substituted for Trialist B, in what seemed to be a like-for-like change.
Sam Gaughran’s men started off slightly stronger, but Jake DAVIES got his second of the afternoon for the opposition, as Cardiff completed the turnaround with 62 minutes on the clock.
Cody TWOSE and Troy PERRETT took the game beyond doubt from Posh as two quick fire goals made it 4-1 to the Bluebirds, the second of which being from long-range.
Posh managed to create two good chances with ten minutes to go, with Conn-Clarke’s and McWilliams-Marcano’s shots blocked and saved.
Posh Under 21s have a two week break until they are next in action, where they face Colchester United U21s at the Weston Homes Stadium on the 16th September.
