The Posh Under 21s earned another point in the Professional Development League as their first home match of the campaign ends in a draw.
Peterborough United Under 21’s earned a point at the Bespoke Builds Training Ground as they fought out a 2-2 draw with QPR Under 21’s.
A long-range effort and a breakaway goal were both cancelled out by the second half strikes by the visitors, who were livelier in the second 45.
Posh started strongly, with not even 10 seconds on the clock before Joe Davies forced Joel Halliday into a save.
Posh continued to put pressure on the visitors, and it came to fruition when Davon Gbajumo’s cross came to the feet of Matt GARBETT whose strike clipped the bar as it hit the back of the net.
As the first half came to a close, Posh doubled their lead just before the break, as Lucca Mendonca and Bolt Shofowoke combined before DAVIES slotted his shot into the bottom right corner,
As the second half began, QPR got more involved, forcing early bookings for Joe Andrews and Fabian Claxton.
This onslaught of pressure eventually gave its reward as SUTTON halved the deficit just before the hour mark.
QPR continued to press, and forced Bastian Smith into a great stop at his near post. Posh seemed to be holding out for s second successive win, until COOMES struck late in the second half meaning that all points were set to be shared.
Under 21s Lead Coach Sam Gaughran said after the game: "We had a lot of momentum in the first half; second half it was about managing momentum against us and nullifying their threats. It’s a learning curve and hopefully we can learn it for the next game.”
Gaughran’s side return to action on Monday 25th August as they are up against AFC Bournemouth’s Under 21’s.
