Peterborough United Under 18s claimed an impressive 4-1 victory over Norwich City in the Under 18 Premier League Cup at the Mick George Training Academy.
The Posh secured a comprehensive win through goals from Fitzpatrick and Shofowoke, a stunning free-kick from Christoudias, and a powerful long-range strike by Fox.
Posh started brightly, applying aggressive pressure high up the pitch and moving the ball quickly in transition. Goalkeeper Al Sammour produced a brilliant one-on-one save early on but was beaten from the penalty spot on ten minutes as the visitors went ahead. The response was immediate — on 16 minutes, FITZPATRICK capitalised on a defensive error with excellent pressing and calmly slotted home the equaliser.
On 29 minutes, Christoudias played a perfectly weighted through ball for SHOFOWOKE, who cut inside and curled a composed finish into the far corner to complete the turnaround. Sammour made another fine stop late in the half to deny a close-range effort, ensuring Posh took a 2-1 lead into the break.
The second half saw both sides exchange attacking opportunities, but Norwich struggled to find a breakthrough as Posh defended with composure and looked threatening on the counter-attack. On 84 minutes, CHRISTOUDIAS curled a sensational free-kick into the top corner to extend the lead, before FOX sealed the victory four minutes later with a thunderous strike from distance.
The backline remained disciplined to prevent any further goals, and Posh saw out the match to claim a dominant 4-1 win.
Lead Under 18s Coach Jimmy Unwin said: “The players showed real confidence and focus today. I was impressed with how they reacted after conceding early — we regained control quickly and continued to push for more goals. Every player contributed, and the defensive organisation was excellent. Back-to-back 4-1 wins give the group great belief, and we’ll look to build on this positive momentum moving forward.”
