Posh U21s to face The Sky Blues at the idverde Training Ground on Tuesday afternoon.

Peterborough United U21s welcome Coventry City U21s to the idverde Training Ground on Tuesday (12pm) in the Professional Development League, with manager Matthew Etherington keen to start turning the performances into victories.

The under 21s suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic last Monday as they conceded twice in the final 15 minutes after taking the lead on the stroke of half-time. The Sky Blues were also beaten 3-1 by Burnley in their previous fixture and are currently seventh in the table, above Posh on goal difference.

Forward Joe Taylor will return to the under 21s squad for the visit of The Sky Blues, with Matthew Etherington confirming a similar squad that faced Wigan Athletic last Monday is expected to be involved on Tuesday afternoon.

Speaking ahead of the game, Etherington said: “The performances, on the whole, have been good, although defensively we need to tighten up as we are conceding far too many goals. In terms of our general play and possession, it has been very positive and we should have scored a lot more goals than we have. Now, it’s about turning those performances into victories.

“Coventry is always a tough game and did really well in the league last year, finishing second and advancing into the playoffs. They haven’t started great this year, but what we have learnt so far is that every game in this division is tough.”

The game gets underway at 12pm and updates will be available club’s official Twitter account.
