Peterborough United U21s will face Queens Park Rangers U21s in the Professional Development League on Tuesday afternoon (2pm) at the Weston Homes Stadium, with season ticket holders able to watch the game for free.

After a narrow defeat on the South Coast at the hands of Bournemouth last Tuesday, the under U21s will be looking to bounce back and pick up their first points of the season. The Posh were unfortunate to be beaten by a one-goal margin in their last two games, one in the league and one in the Premier League Cup, but will not feel overly disheartened by the start.

The visiting side, Queens Park Rangers, are in fine form as they have picked up maximum points from their two games this season. The young R’s will be feeling confident, especially forward Steven Bala who scored a hat-trick in Rangers’ last outing, a 4-2 win against Coventry City.

U21s Lead Professional Development Phase Coach, Ryan Semple, is looking forward to returning to the stadium on Tuesday afternoon and felt his side needs to be more ruthless when presented with opportunities.

Semple said: “We had a week to recover from two games a week, but face another busy week of football with the fixture against QPR tomorrow before a trip to Watford on Friday. We were obviously an older squad last week, but it will be a good opportunity to get back to a familiar squad and look for a good performance.

“The games at the stadium obviously bring something different, certainly a different atmosphere. Whether there’s people watching or not, it’s obviously what they’re gearing up for to go and play first team football.”

“We need to be more ruthless. When we’re in those areas, we need to make the right decision, whether that’s a pass, cross, shot or dribble, getting that right is fundamental. We have had plenty of opportunities in the previous games and we need to start making the most of those chances.”

Tickets can be brought on the day at the Weston Homes Stadium Box Office. Admission is free for season ticket holders with adult tickets available for £3 and concessions (seniors and under 18s) at £1. The Main North Stand will be open for the fixture.

The game will be streamed live on Posh+ and will be free for Posh+ subscribers or £3 for a match pass.
