Posh U21s face The Owls at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.

Peterborough United U21s return to Professional Development League action on Tuesday afternoon (1:30pm) as they welcome Sheffield Wednesday U21s to the Weston Homes Stadium.

The under 21s haven’t played a league game since early November when they came out 4-1 winners over Burnley but have, more recently, picked up an impressive victory over Blackburn Rovers in the Premier League Cup last month.

Posh are currently sat ninth in the table, but have a number of games in hand on everyone around them due to postponements last month. The Owls are bottom of the table, one point behind Posh, but picked up an important three points just over two weeks ago after a 3-2 victory over Crewe Alexandra.

Midfielder Oliver Norburn is set to be involved in the game against The Owls as he continues his return to full match fitness after a lengthy spell on the sidelines and will be scheduled to play 45 minutes, while Will Van Lier will be unavailable after picking up an injury.

Speaking ahead of the game, Professional Development Phase Coach, Ryan Semple, said: “It will be a tough game. They are a team that will be aggressive, on the front foot, be very organised and hard to beat, but I think we are in a good place. Obviously, it’s the first game in the league for a while, but we had a number of games, including the Premier League Cup and a friendly.

“All our focus is on tomorrow’s game, but after that, we have Birmingham City away the following Monday. We have to build momentum, I think we have done that in the last few weeks with the games we have had and we will look to take that into tomorrow.

“Will [Van Lier] is unavailable due to an injury but we will have Oliver Norburn involved which will be fantastic for him, but also great to have him part of the squad. However, except from Will's injury, we have a lot of bodies to choose from and will be a strong group that’s ready to compete.”

Admission is free for season ticket holders with adult tickets available for £3 and concessions (seniors and under 18s) at £1 for all non-season ticket holders. Supporters will be able to pay on the gate and will be available on www.theposhtickets.com on Tuesday morning.

The game will be streamed live on Posh+, which will be free for Posh+ subscribers or £3 for a match pass. No commentary will be available.
